Improved Fabrication Method Of
PICASSO Detectors*, Patrick Doane, for the PICASSO
collaboration , Université de
Montréal — The PICASSO
collaboration uses superheated droplet detectors for its dark matter direct
detection project. These detectors
consist in a freon emulsion dispersed in a polymerized gel matrix. In this talk I will introduce a new method
of emulsion fabrication, which has been recently developed. This method reduces significantly the alpha
ray efficiency of PICASSO detectors, thereby producing lower background units.
