Physical Society Colloquium[an error occurred while processing this directive]
Klaus Strahl Université de Montréal There are lots of fun (and some serious) toys, which are based on interesting or puzzling physics phenomena. Some seem to be incompatible with the school book physics knowledge, some are merely nice to watch. I will present a few of my favourite ones, point out why and how they work and probably turn your picture of physics upside down. I will not go into complicated mathematics, but rather stay on a qualitative level of description. N.B.: While we will talk about physics, this topic has been proven tobe interesting to the non-scientist as well.
