Using FUSE to probe the deuterium abundance in the local interstellar medium

Jean Dupuis

CSA

Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer (FUSE) primary science goal is to measure the abundance of deuterium in various astrophysical environments. I will present results on deuterium measurements in the local interstellar medium mainly based on observations of hot white dwarfs. I will also describe the pattern of deuterium abundances that are starting to emerge from the various sightlines studied so far and discuss their astrophysical implications.
