Joint Astrophysics ColloquiumCosmology in the Dark SectorKris SigurdsonUBCCosmologists and astrophysicists have now accumulated undeniable evidence for a ‘Dark Sector’ with new laws of physics: new particles and/or new forces beyond those described by the standard model of particle physics and gravity. While it dominates cosmology and shapes our Universe, we have limited knowledge about the physics of the dark sector. I will discuss several examples of ways that dark-sector physics can be imprinted upon cosmology and astrophysics, and how current or future observations could allow us to constrain, and perhaps discover, the new laws of physics that govern the dark sector.
