Joint Astrophysics ColloquiumJoint Astrophysics SeminarPromise and Problems in Precision Detection of the Polarization of the CMBBruce WinsteinUniversity of ChicagoMany groups are launching new efforts towards precision measurements of the polarization of the cosmic microwave background radiation. I will present the approach taken in QUIET, a recently funded polarization experiment with some unique features. Results from CAPMAP, a predecessor to QUIET in significant ways, will as well be presented.
