Also described are available traveling fellowships, including the Alma Mater Student Travel Grant. The Supervision website offers over 40 pages of research-based practical advice and guidance on the supervisory relationship so that common problems in supervision can be avoided and degrees can be completed without needless delays. The SKILLSETS website invites graduate students to participate in an award-winning suite of over 200 workshops on professional development and extra-curricular skills, including teaching competence, research management, and life skills. MGAPS: McGill Graduate Association of Physics StudentsMGAPS is your physics graduate student society. Its mandate is to defend and promote the interests of its members in all affairs of the Physics Department, as well as to foster cohesion and interaction amongst its members through social events and activities. Student Health ServicesMcGill's Student Health Services offers an on-campus urgent care clinic, as well as scheduled appointments with doctors, nurses and dentists. Mental Health ServicesMcGill's Mental Health clinic offers a variety of services in support of the psychological well-being of students. Appointments are strictly confidential, and can be made by phone without a referral. Teaching and Learning Counselling ServiceThe McGill Counselling Service offers information and support to students with academic and vocational concerns. Career and educational councelling session are available and a variety of workshops offered throughout the year. Scholarships and Student Aid OfficeThe Scholarships and Student Aid Office offers budget counselling and an in-course financial aid program to undergraduate and graduate students who encounter financial difficulties during the course of their studies. International Student ServicesThe International Student Services (ISS) Office's primary goal is the success of international students at McGill. The office provides programs designed to aid the transition to a new school and country, including orientation activities and a Buddy Program. The Writing CentreThe McGill Writing Centre offers a wide range of services to students, including day and evening courses, writing seminars, and communications workshops. McGill AthleticsYour student fees give you access to a wide range of on-campus athletic activities and equipment. The McGill Sports Centre, which offers a variety of recreational courses and intramural activities, is located two blocks away from the Rutherford Physics building. Learning FrenchThere are a variety of ways to start learning french upon arriving at McGill. Formal courses are offered through the English and French Language Centre and Continuing Education, while less rigorous conversational french classes are offered through the PGSS (see above).
