Undergraduate advising

For general questions about:

  • Degree planning
  • Degree requirements
  • Final exam issues
  • The U0 Foundation program (Science or Arts & Science)
  • Interfaculty transfers
  • Study away/exchange
  • University and Faculty regulations

The faculty of Science put together an excellent Undergraduate handbook. It has the answer to most student questions.

If you still have questions see the Science Service Point. Note that undergraduate admissions are done by McGill Admissions and not individual departments. The Physics Department is unable to answer questions or provide assistance with the undergraduate admissions process.

For help with:

  • Getting into a full course that is required for your program
  • Other registration issues with required courses

For physics courses, email Louise Decelles (chairsec dot physics at mcgill dot ca). Otherwise, contact the relevant program advisor in the department that runs the course.

For questions about non-physics classes, the non-physics part of a joint degree, or adding a non-physics minor to a physics degree: See the program advisor in the relevant department.

If you need advice about Physics programs, including:

  • Program requirements (honours, major, minor, etc.)
  • Joint degree options
  • What physics or math courses you should take
  • Getting the most out of your program
  • How to resolve course conflits
  • Research
  • Careers
  • Graduate school

Take a look at our helpful FAQs. Also take a look at the program maps available for our most popular degree programs (links in the sidebar to the left), which show the suggested order of courses.
