Book Reviews
I have recently started writing reviews of physics books for the Canadian Association of Physicists and the journal Physics in Canada. Doing this type of work is a nice way for me to force myself to read about things that I mostly already know and explore it from a different perspective. Furthermore criticizing someone's work is always a good way of improving my future work. Here is the list of what I read so far:
- Everyday Calculus: Discovering the Hidden Math All around Us by Oscar E. Fernandez, review available here.
- Group Theory in a Nutchell for Physicists by Anthony Zee, the review can be found here.
- Quantum Information, Computation and Communication by Jonathan A. Jones and Dieter Jaksch, review available here.
Geek
I am proud to be a geek and to compare myself to the guys in The Big Bang Theory, which of course is my favourite TV show. I like to read comic books and mangas and I love to play video games. I finished all the Pokemon games and I collect Pokemon cards. Two of the places that I would love to go are San Diego ComicCon and the E3 convention, which represent completely the things I like. I also read regular books and I prefer fantastic stories, like of course Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. Obviously like every geek I am a big fan of Star Wars :)
Sports
I am a big fan of almost every sport that exist. I watch more than I play but whenever I have the occasion I like to play with some friends. Of course as a Canadian my favourite sport is hockey (Go Habs Go!) but I also enjoy tennis and football. Being in Montreal I have access to a lot of sportive events so I try to attend as much as possible. I also combine this passion with my geek side by playing a lot of sports video games.
Cooking
I enjoy taking some time at home to cook good meals and more importantly desserts. I love to eat and cooking is a way for me to relax and make sure that what I eat is good. I often try new recipes and food from different countries because the world is so full of good food that I don't want to miss anything. However nothing beats a homemade pizza!
Pets
I have always loved to have pets. During my childhood I got almost every possible animal in my house. I got everything from a cat and a mouse to a crab and a turtle. Right now I only have a cat but he is like my kid so it's enough. His name is Kal-El and he is the cutest cat in the world (in addition to being the Superman of cats).
